Hotel Footprinting Tool
SQUAKE's preferred hotel method. It uses Greenview's Hotel Footprinting Tool, which turns Cornell Hotel Sustainability Benchmarking Index data into a footprint per occupied room-night for cities, states and countries.
- Publisher
- Greenview
- Best for
- Global hotel programmes
- Result
- One total for all the room-nights
- Energy scope
- Hotel operations
- Factor year
- Selectable; latest supported dataset by default
How it works
- SQUAKE uses the Greenview value for the most specific location with data, falling back from city to state, country and continent.
- A star rating narrows the value where data exist; otherwise SQUAKE uses the hotel average.
- With no location at all, SQUAKE applies 32.69 kg CO₂e per night.
- Greenview updates its data every year and fills gaps by extrapolating from neighbouring data points.
Trip details used
When a detail is missing, SQUAKE uses the default.
| Detail | Default | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Room-nights | Required | One room for one night counts as 1. |
| Country, state and city | None | The more specific, the better. |
| Star rating | Hotel average | Values exist for 2 to 5 stars. |
