Rental car categories
Average tailpipe CO₂ per kilometre for each ACRISS rental car category and fuel type. Use it when you know the booked category but not the exact car.
- Publisher
- ACRISS (car rental industry standards body)
- Best for
- Rental bookings with a car category code
- Result
- One total per car trip
- Energy scope
- TTW (tailpipe CO₂)
- Factor year
- Not selectable
How it works
- The category comes from the rental code on the booking (ACRISS or SIPP), or from a generic category such as SUV.
- Battery-electric cars come out at zero, because only tailpipe CO₂ is counted.
Trip details used
When a detail is missing, SQUAKE uses the default.
| Detail | Default | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Distance driven | From the route or rental days | Measured kilometres give the best result. |
| Start and end locations | None | Used to calculate the distance. |
| Rental days | None | Fallback only: 60 km per day. |
| Car category | Economy | From the ACRISS or SIPP rental code. |
| Fuel | Petrol | Petrol, diesel, hybrid, plug-in hybrid or electric. |
What is included
Included

Not included
- Producing the fuel or the electricity
- Vehicle manufacture
Limitations
- Averages by rental category, not the specific car.
- Counts tailpipe CO₂ only, so electric cars show zero.
