Car methodology
BASIC
Your own vehicle data
Calculates car emissions from a CO₂ rate or a fuel consumption figure you already know. SQUAKE adds no vehicle class or regional averages.
- Publisher
- SQUAKE, using your data
- Best for
- Fleets or cars with a known CO₂ rate or consumption
- Result
- One total per car trip
- Energy scope
- Depends on the data you supply
- Factor year
- Not selectable
How it works
- A known CO₂ rate per km is used as given.
- Fuel or electricity consumption is converted to CO₂ with fuel-specific factors. The fuel type is needed for this.
- If both are available, SQUAKE uses the CO₂ rate.
Trip details used
When a detail is missing, SQUAKE uses the default.
| Detail | Default | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Distance driven | From the route or rental days | Measured kilometres give the best result. |
| Start and end locations | None | Used to calculate the distance. |
| Rental days | None | Fallback only: 60 km per day. |
| CO₂ per km | None | Takes priority over consumption. |
| Fuel or electricity use per 100 km | None | Litres for liquid fuels, kWh for electric cars. |
| Fuel type | None | Needed with consumption. |
Limitations
- The result is only as good as the figure supplied.
- The energy scope depends on the figure supplied.
