Base Empreinte
ADEME emission factor database
Factors from Base Empreinte, ADEME's official public database of emission factors for carbon accounting in France. The factor depends on the distance and the aircraft size, with separate values for smaller jets and turboprops.

How it works
- Distance comes from the airports, or from the actual distance where known.
- Factors vary by distance band and aircraft size: under 50, under 100, under 220 or over 220 seats. Without a size, SQUAKE uses an average aircraft.
- ADEME's factors cover producing the fuel and burning it in flight, while taxiing and on the ground, including the auxiliary power unit.
- When non-CO₂ effects are included, ADEME doubles the combustion emissions.
Trip details used
When a detail is missing, SQUAKE uses the default.
| Detail | Default | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Origin and destination airports | Required | Trips with connections are calculated leg by leg. |
| Actual distance | Calculated from the airports | Replaces the airport-based distance. |
| Aircraft size | Average aircraft | Jet or turboprop can be set for smaller aircraft. |
| Number of travellers | 1 | |
| Sustainable aviation fuel | None | A SQUAKE adjustment outside ADEME's factors. |
What is included
Included
- Producing the fuel and burning it, including taxiing and the auxiliary power unit
- Non-CO₂ effects through ADEME's multiplier (on by default)
