EPA GHG Emission Factors Hub
Distance-band factors from the EPA's GHG Emission Factors Hub, used for US corporate greenhouse gas inventories. There are three distance bands and no cabin classes.

- Factor year
- Selectable; latest supported year by default
How it works
- Distance comes from the airports, or from the actual distance where known. EPA has three bands: short haul under 300 miles (about 480 km), medium haul from 300 to 2,300 miles (about 3,700 km) and long haul beyond that.
- The factors cover CO₂, methane and nitrous oxide from burning the fuel only. EPA states that they do not include upstream (well-to-tank) emissions.
- EPA takes its air travel factors from the UK Government's conversion factors. In recent Hub editions it has kept them fixed to avoid the low load factors of the pandemic years.
Trip details used
When a detail is missing, SQUAKE uses the default.
| Detail | Default | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Origin and destination airports | Required | Trips with connections are calculated leg by leg. |
| Actual distance | Calculated from the airports | Replaces the airport-based distance. |
| Number of travellers | 1 | |
| Sustainable aviation fuel | None | A SQUAKE adjustment outside the EPA factors. |
